The queen of Lyria
At the age of 18, Amadel Chisten of House Raven was wedded to the future king, prince Kayn of House Boar, making her the most powerful woman in the kingdom. Five years later the ruling king passed away and Kayn and Amadel became heirs to the throne. 11 years of peace and prosperity followed until the day the king was found dead, seemingly assassinated. To find the perpetrator the largest investigation the land had ever seen was launched, though no clues were ever found except an obsidian dagger jabbed in the kings back. Some speculate that the murder was an inside job to increase House Ravens power.
Left alone to rule the kingdom Amadel employed a council of ambassadors from the lands largest cities to help her guide the land in the right direction. These ambassadors take responsibility for the ministry of wealth, ministry of war, ministry of social affairs and so on, though they do not have a final say on all matters of importance because queen Amadel is able to call down a veto against anything she sees unfit.
Amadel is beloved by her people for her kindness sense of justice and all the good that she has done the kingdom, yet after her husband’s death, there are people arguing if she is fit to sit on the throne. These politicians and merchants argue that having the trade guild rule the land would be desirable. This has caused great debate within the kingdom and has split the merchants in two. Those who support the queen and those who support the trade guild dominance.
